Foam Fire Extinguishers
Foam Fire Extinguisher Range

Foam fire extinguishers come primarily in these key types:
-
Fluorine-Free Foam Extinguishers: These use an environmentally safer, fluorine-free foam agent (such as Silvara I). Typically available in 9-litre portable sizes, they offer fire ratings around 3A:20B or 4A:20B and comply with Australian standards (AS/NZS 1841.3). They are suitable for Class A (solids like paper and wood) and Class B (flammable liquids) fires. Example: a 9L fluorine-free foam extinguisher with 12.20kg total mass and 3A:20B rating.
-
Air Foam or AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam) Extinguishers: These commonly come in sizes like 9 litres and use foam agents (e.g., Tridol S 6% AFFF) that rapidly knock down flames by forming a foam film. These have fire ratings like 4A:30B, operate around 1000 kPa pressure with about 45 seconds discharge time. Suitable for Class A and B fires, these are often wall-mount models with a mass of around 12.5kg.
-
Eco Foam Extinguishers: Some models emphasise environmental safety and features like UV stabilisation and corrosion resistance, suitable for both indoor and outdoor usage.
Foam extinguishers are designed for dual Class A and B fires, effective on flammable solids and liquids, but are generally not recommended for electrical fires unless specifically tested (conductivity tested models).
These extinguishers come certified to Australian standards and have various ratings depending on capacity and agent formulation.
